Listen to the Music – Video 7 – STRENGTH EXERCISES, SLOW AND CAREFUL – For our older moms, grandmas and great grandmas

Here’s a video of slow and careful strength exercises, made for all of us who need to slow it down a bit.

I apologize, I can’t seem to find the playlist for this one. I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Listen to the Music – Video 6 – STRENGTH EXERCISES, 10 Reps

In this video I don’t introduce or teach the exercises, we just plow straight through them. If you want to see them introduced, look at my previous post where I include some instruction.

Here you are, 10 reps, no stopping, enjoy!

Video 4 Playlist: Walkin’ on the Sun by Smash Mouth, Tu Cuerpo by Pitbull, Somebody Told Me by The Killers, Kalifornia by Fatboy Slim, Orion by Rodrigo y Gabriela, Malaguena by Domingo DeGrazia, Pushing Forward Back by Temple of the Dog.

Wow, I can’t believe I blazed through all those exercises in 25 minutes. Next time maybe we can slow it down a bit!

Listen to the Music – Video 5 – STRENGTH EXERCISES (5 reps, with instructions)

Hi, I’ve posted three freestyle dance exercise videos so far, which I hope you are enjoying. However, if you’re not into dancing, here’s a strengthening routine we can do together.

This video consists of exercises you can do in your own home. Optional equipment: hand weights and a chair.

I do these exercises on the days that I don’t feel like dancing. In this video, I do 5 repetitions per exercise, and give instructions. Soon I’ll record another video with 10 repetitions and no instructions.

Video 5, Strengthening Exercises, 5 reps plus instruction:

Video 4 Playlist: Air by Jessie Cook, Alive by Pearl Jam, Amore by Santana, Anastasia by Slash, Back Where I Belong by Bertine Zetlitz, Because We Can by Fatboy Slim, and Bite Hard by Franz Ferdinand (I’m getting tired of that one, why does it keep playing?)

Oh, look, LOL, I was going through my playlist alphabetically by song title instead of on shuffle. Welcome to my learning curve!

Have a great workout!

Oops, just discovered 3 drafts

I just discovered that I never published my 3 strength exercise videos. I had made three or four freestyle dance videos, but there’s also 3 of a different sort – they are exercises rather than freestyle.

The first one teaches the exercises and we do 5 repetitions each. The second one powers through them at 10 reps each. The third one slows it way down and we do easier exercises for those who need a slower pace.

The blogs are completely written, and the videos uploaded and everything, which is why I thought I posted them. So I’m going to post them now. These were done a couple of weeks ago when we were still in Albuquerque. It seems like forever ago!

Ok, posting in a moment…strengthening exercises…

Listen to the Music – Video 4 – FREESTYLE DANCE SLOW AND CAREFUL

Here’s an easier, slower freestyle dance video. I made this exercise video for my mom and all of the older moms, grandmas and great grandmas out there.

Happy exercising!

Listen to the Music – Video 3 – HAPPY DANCING

Here’s our third freestyle dance video – I hope you enjoy it! After this we’ll do a couple of strengthening exercise videos, and then maybe a fun surprise.

Playlist for Video 3: Cambio y Fuera by Gloria Trevi, This Boy by Franz Ferdinand, Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage, Eric’s Blues by Tania Maria, Can’t Knock the Hustle by Weezer, Rules by Shakira, Do You Want To by Franz Ferdinand, Opening Mandelbrot by Blue Man Group

Ready to exercise? Let’s go!

Listen To The Music – Video 2 – SLOWING IT DOWN

Welcome to my new freestyle dancercise video series created for my friends and family! Here’s our second exercise video, Slowing it Down.

Video 2 Playlist: Put Your Lights On by Santana, Most Girls by Pink, Bulletproof by La Roux, Tigerlily by La Roux, Numb by Pink, Bite Hard by Franz Ferdinand and Layla by Eric Clapton.

I’m a little self-conscious about this video because my face is crooked due to my headache. It almost looks like I’m sneering sometimes when I’m just thinking. Of course you know that I’m not sneering. Still, it’s hard for me to see the effect of my headache on my face. It’s not something that’s under my control, so I just need to not worry about it. I’m going ahead and posting this video anyway!

Ok, time to get up and on your feet – this video’s not for watching, this video is for exercising!

Listen to the Music – Video 1 – LET’S GET STARTED!

Welcome to my new series, Listen To The Music – freestyle dancercise videos for my friends & family! Let’s exercise together!

I’ve actually been debating about whether to put this video up. I usually post whatever I want to on this blog, without much inhibition. For example, I was very open about my cancer treatments in 2020, including subsequent chemo-induced panic attacks. But still, I hesitated when it came to putting up a 30-minute video of me dancing around the living room like a doofus.

I guess I’m feeling a bit self-conscious. I don’t want to overshare. But this video is for you. The only people who read this blog are my good friends and family members. As I keep reminding myself! And a good portion of you have already seen me exercise in the past anyway, or have even joined in!

I originally taped this video for Callan and Chirstina, because we have been exercising together virtually. Although I’m not sure if we’re going to use my videos because Callan and Chirstina currently have a subscription to a paid online class that they like. Their class has a professional instructor who wears goddess-like flowing outfits and somehow manages to dance without getting entangled in them, all the while calling out chirpy and encouraging things like, “You are winning at life!” and “Everyone’s body is perfect!” whereas I stumble around saying alarming things like, “Whoa, I’m dizzy, oh shit, I’m going to fall.” That was towards the end when I was supposed to be in cooldown mode, but sort of wasn’t, and I swung my head around too exuberantly. Don’t worry, I’m fine.

Last night I told my mom about having made these videos, and she encouraged me to post them. She wanted to try exercising to them and she thought you would too. She told me to tell you that! So fine, here is the first video of me impersonating an exercise instructor, lol. These are freestyle, so do them at your own pace and do whatever works for you. I’m not trying to teach any fancy dance moves because I don’t know any.

Also I apologize, it turns out that I’m hard to understand in this first video. I’m talking to you, but who the heck knows what I’m saying. In the future I will try to remember to talk more slowly and closer to the camera, and maybe turn the music down a bit. But I really don’t want to wear a mic, sorry, this is just a family blog. These are not professional videos! They’re just for us.

I’ve taped a couple of others too, which I’ll put up over the next few days. I’m still experimenting with things like sound quality, camera angle, etc.

So remember – just do your own thing, it’s freestyle. Don’t try to mimic exactly what I’m doing. And have fun! Let’s go!

Listen to the Music – Freestyle Dancercise Video 1 – LET’S GET STARTED!

Video 1 Playlist: Havana by Jessie Cook, Tigerlily by La Roux, No Soy Un Pájaro by Gloria Trevi, Undisclosed Desires by Muse, Can’t Stop Feeling by Franz Ferdinand, Rumor Has It by Adele, Push It by Garbage, Mr. Tang by Rodrigo y Gabriela, Más by Ricky Martin.

I hope you enjoy this video! Now get up and give it a try – it’s not for watching, it’s for exercising!
