Science Museum

Over the weekend John and I went to the Boston Museum of Science with Bryan and the girls.

I’ve always loved these – I don’t know what they’re called. Little balls go up pulleys and trolleys and launch off ramps and fall through tubes and sling from catapults. Everything has to be calibrated just so.

Also near this exhibit was a staircase that plays music when you walk on it. It doesn’t just play something prerecorded. It plays different tones depending on where you step, like a giant musical instrument. I was so entranced by it that I forgot to take any pictures of us running up and down and backwards and sideways on the staircase.

Here is Daphne learning to code. The robot reads the blocks in order, and executes the commands. It goes forwards, backwards, lights up, plays music, and even takes a recording of it’s surroundings and plays back the recording (“Hi, I’m Daphne!”), all depending on which blocks are put together in what order. Daphne was fascinated.

The space module was a big hit.

In the land of dinosaurs, there are cool ledges to walk on.
